Awesome write up.
A few things From IAC's view.
In the beginning of the Fight there were 100 IAC, 60 AXE, and 40-50 ish CVA. 20 IAC pilots were dedicated to maintaining the POS's and they did an awesome job that night.
While CVA stayed on the ZXIC gate to stop the FIX backup fleet from arriving, My IAC gang formed up at snipe spots on the 1p- gate. Our scout network soon began reporting on the MC movement from Utopia and kept eyes on them while they tried to make their way through KOCN and VA6. This, however, gave us more then enough time setup on the Va6 gate in F4, with the AXE gang waiting for my command to warp in as soon as the MC began jumping, and they didn't have to wait long.
But the node utterly failed us.
As soon as the first MC started jumping in from Va6, FIX forces began to jump in from ZXIC. What should have been an epic battle spread across 2 gates simultanously, involving 250 people, turned into me clicking on "INVITE" more times then i care to think about.
After this one hiccup in the server though, everything seemed to run smoothly, I don't even rember their being any module lag (except for the messsed up grids of course), But the damage, in my mind, was done. The MC and Fix forces had been allowed to gain entry into our system, where they would be a mobile sniper force, very hard to counter.
The first "real" battle after this was at the first pos about to come out of reinforced. IAC pilots in the gang reported the MC fleet to be 100 above the POS, sniping away happily. I warped my gang into the pos , and told the tacklers to strap on the helmats and shout "leeeerrroy" into the night. I believe 1 or 2 MC BS succumbed AXE tacklers in this attack, with a few losses to our support fleets.
and then the grids decided to go AWOL.
A Few of my tacklers had reported engageing and scraming an Apoc 100km off the Va6 gate. I gave the order for my Fleet of 70ish (this was after AXE had left, aparantly they have this thing called a "life" so they don't play at the un-godly hour that it was :P) to start aligning for the gate, I also gave the order for everyone to load short range ammo. I could literally hear people grinning...
I warped us to the gate at 100 and was like "WTF there is No one here..." and then it happened. The MC appeared outa nowhere.
My overview lit up red, and all of the distances on my overview read less than 40km. The Antimatter in my guns couldn't shoot fast enough :D.
And then it happened again... everyone vansihed.. i was sitting there in space with about 7-10 blues around me thinking i either need to lay-off the 20 year old twinkies, or i need to get some more sleep...
Aparently the grid had just shat itself and i could no longer call targets. But the backup FC did a hell of fine job, and most of the MC forces were killed.
A few skirmishes happened after this, but that was the main fight, and indeed, the turning point of the War for F4( oo catchy :D)
I have always held the greatest respect for the MC, and the fights of that morning have only hieghtend my respect for them and their abiblity to bring the best day in and day out.
But i also learned that I fly with an amazing group of people, The IAC pilots who showed up that night were mostly fighting in their first Large scale fleet fight. And all of them did an awesome job of listening to orders and doing everything they could to stop the invaders.
Also i can't say enough about CVA and AXE, you guys were there when we needed you the most, and don't doubt for an instant that we won't be there for you. Go MAZ your a crazy SOB. :P
Even though the fight took place from 11pm to 5 am EST, i still had the most fun ive ever had in EvE and i know for a fact that every IAC pilot who fouhgt in F4 had a blast.
don't be too ruff on me this is my first "war story" and me and my spell check button don't get along to well.
hope you enjoyed seeing the fight from both sides
